Colony Flow! Level 281 Walkthrough

hard Live 10 colours / pieces Checked September 20, 2026

Colony Flow Level 281 features a pixel-art whale framed by an orange sky and coral waves, with two locked boxes in the stack. Strip the outer orange and red borders first to free slots and uncover embedded keys. Avoid deploying inner blue boxes early to prevent deadlocking your slots.

How to beat Colony Flow! Level 281 — full solution

  1. Tap the Orange 35 box (front row, column 1), Red 45 box (front row, column 2), Light Blue 44 box (front row, column 3), and Light Blue 45 box (front row, column 4). Orange and red ants strip outer border pixels while light blue ants target exposed whale edges. Four slots are filled.
  2. Tap the Orange 50 box (front row, column 1) into the free slot once Orange 35 empties. Orange ants clear the top sky while Red 45, Light Blue 44, and Light Blue 45 continue depleting. Orange 50 clears completely; slots 1, 2, and 4 remain occupied while two slots are open.
  3. Tap the White 25 box (front row, column 2) and Hot Pink 25 box (front row, column 4). White ants start dismantling the whale's belly and spout, exposing the green key, while hot pink ants chew through lower water blocks. Red 45 and Light Blue 45 finish and leave their slots.
  4. Tap the Orange 30 box (front row, column 4) and Light Blue 30 box (front row, column 3). Hot Pink 25 and Light Blue 44 finish. The green key is collected into the nest as adjacent white blocks vanish, unlocking the Green 20 box. Four slots remain active with one slot free.
  5. Tap the unlocked Green 20 box (front row, column 1), then tap the Light Blue 25 box (front row, column 2) and Blue 60 box (front row, column 3). White 25, Orange 30, and Green 20 finish clearing. Light blue ants expose the dark purple key; four slots are occupied.
  6. Tap the Orange 48 box (front row, column 3) and the unlocked Dark Purple 29 box (front row, column 1), then tap the Red 7 box (front row, column 1). Blue and orange ants clear outer layers and outline pixels. Light Blue 25 and Blue 60 finish; three slots are free.
  7. Tap the Hot Pink 35 box (front row, column 4), Coral 41 box (front row, column 3), and Red 55 box (front row, column 2) as slots open. Ants remove the remaining lower waves and water spray. Dark Purple 29 and Orange 48 empty, leaving two slots free.
  8. Tap the Light Blue 65 box (front row, column 1), Coral 55 box (front row, column 2), Orange 20 box (front row, column 3), Black 50 box (row 2, column 1), and Red 20 box (row 2, column 2). Ants carry away the final pixels, leaving all slots and board empty.

Moves that cost you the level

  • Tapping the Blue 60 box before light blue whale blocks are removed → blue outline pixels remain shielded, leaving the Blue 60 box stuck in a slot indefinitely.
  • Filling all five slots before Orange 35 or Red 45 finishes counting down → no empty slot remains to deploy newly uncovered interior colours, triggering an immediate loss.

Quick tips for Level 281

  • Focus on outside layers first; clearing the outer orange sky and red waves exposes the keys and whale body beneath.
  • Keep at least one slot open whenever possible so unlocked key boxes can be deployed without stalling.
Board breakdown5 notes
Layout
The board presents a 5-slot bay above a 4-column stack of ant boxes, set beneath an aquatic whale pixel-art image surrounded by orange sky, white spray, and red/coral waves.
Goal
Clear all coloured blocks forming the whale and background by deploying ants from the stack into the five slots without causing a slot deadlock.
Opening
Open by tapping Orange 35, Red 45, Light Blue 44, and Light Blue 45. Orange and red form the exposed perimeter of the picture, allowing these boxes to count down immediately while leaving a slot open.
Trap
Tapping interior Blue or Dark Purple boxes before uncovering their blocks or collecting their embedded keys fills slots with inactive ants, causing an irreversible deadlock.
Mechanic
Padlocked boxes (Green 20 and Dark Purple 29) stay locked in the stack until ants remove the specific picture blocks concealing their respective keys.

Level 281 questions

  • What should I tap first on Level 281?

Tap the front-row perimeter colours first: Orange 35, Red 45, Light Blue 44, and Light Blue 45. They target exposed outer blocks immediately.
