normal Live 8 colours / pieces Checked September 20, 2026

How to beat Colony Flow! Level 279 — full solution

  1. Tap the Yellow 30 box (row 1, col 3) and the Black 30 box (row 1, col 1) into the two open slots alongside the three pre-loaded Cyan boxes. Their ants strip the outer sky and top edges while the cyan ants clear the bottom water.
  2. As the first two Cyan boxes deplete and free slots, tap the Brown 40 box (row 2, col 4) and the Cyan 30 box (row 1, col 4) in any order. The brown ants begin chipping away at the bull's horns while cyan ants strip the pool edges.
  3. When the Black 30 box and remaining initial Cyan box finish, tap the Yellow 25 box (row 1, col 2) and the Red 14 box into the freed slots. The red ants begin stripping the newly exposed back of the bull as the sky recedes.
  4. As the first yellow box empties, tap the Beige 25 box (row 1, col 1) and the Black 32 box (row 1, col 4) into the open slots. The beige ants remove the pale backdrop behind the bull while black ants strip the facial borders.
  5. Once the active beige and red boxes expire, tap the Cyan 14 box (row 1, col 3) and the Cyan 29 box (row 2, col 3) in any order. The cyan ants finish stripping the remaining water underneath the bull.
  6. As slots open up, tap the Hot Pink 20 box, the Red 18 box (row 1, col 1), and the Black 35 box into the bays in any order. Their ants dismantle the inner red body, snout, and dark interior contours.
  7. Tap the Yellow 45 box, the Cyan 50 box (row 1, col 2), and the Hot Pink 45 box into the available slots. They clear the exclamation marks above the head and the remaining colored body segments.
  8. Tap the Cyan 35 box and the Purple 26 box into the final free slots. Their ants remove the remaining blocks on the board to complete the level.

Moves that cost you the level

  • Tapping the Red 18 box on the opening board → red blocks are completely enclosed inside the bull's outline, causing the box to freeze in a slot.
  • Filling all five slots with Cyan boxes early on → water blocks clear quickly, leaving remaining Cyan boxes stuck until other colours uncover submerged bull parts.

Quick tips for Level 279

  • Clear perimeter colours first: strip the cyan water along the bottom and the yellow sky along the top to expand the exposed surface of the bull.
  • Keep at least one slot cycling quickly by matching boxes to large exposed patches rather than narrow detail lines.
Board breakdown5 notes
Layout
A rectangular pixel picture at the top shows an angry red bull sitting in cyan water with a yellow sky and exclamation marks. Below the nest sits a row of five slots and a stack arranged four boxes wide and several rows deep.
Goal
Clear all pixel blocks from the picture using ant boxes. There is no countdown timer on this level.
Opening
The level starts with three Cyan boxes already in the slots stripping the bottom water; send Yellow 30 and Black 30 from the front row into the remaining two open slots.
Trap
Tapping interior Red or Hot Pink boxes before clearing the surrounding sky and water leaves them stuck in slots with no exposed matching blocks.
Mechanic
Ants only carry blocks that touch the outer boundary of the pixel image, requiring outer water and sky to be removed before the bull's inner body can be reached.

Level 279 questions

  • What should I tap first on Colony Flow! Level 279?

The level begins with three Cyan boxes already active in slots. Fill the last two open slots with the Yellow 30 and Black 30 boxes from the front row of the stack.

  • Why are my Red ant boxes stuck on Level 279?

The bull's red body is entirely shielded by the black outline and outer water. Do not tap Red boxes until the outline and water blocks have been carried away.
