normal Live 11 colours / pieces Checked September 21, 2026

Level 287 depicts a koi fish surrounded by blue water and lily pads. Win by stripping the exterior green pads and blue water before deploying red, white, and black jars for the inner fish. Tapping interior fish colours early clogs the bays while pixels remain buried.

How to beat Food Hunt: Pixel Puzzle Level 287 — full solution

  1. Tap Dark Green 10 (row 1, col 1) and Cyan 30 (row 1, col 2), then deploy Purple 15. Dark green ants strip the outer frame and lily pad borders, while cyan and purple ants begin clearing water ripples and the dorsal fin.
  2. Tap Light Green 50 (row 1, col 1), Cyan 45 (row 1, col 2), Blue 40 (row 1, col 3), Blue 20, and Cyan 20. The fifth bay unlocks, allowing blue and cyan ants to carve away the pond water around the koi fish.
  3. Send Cyan 16, Blue 6, Light Green 55, and Cyan 24 to the bays. Ants strip the upper and outer water layers and remaining green lily pads, exposing the outer red flank and white belly of the koi.
  4. Tap Dark Grey 15, White 24, Cyan 36, and the revealed Red 28 and Red 32 jars. White and red ants begin eating the exposed outer scales and belly as the blue water continues to recede.
  5. Tap Cyan 33, Red 12, Red 22, and Cyan 2. The lower water lilies and middle red body scales are eaten away, uncovering deeper koi patterns and freeing up bay slots.
  6. Deploy Cyan 42, Light Green 13, Blue 23, and Red 34. Green ants clear the remaining lily pads on the left, while blue and red ants finish stripping the perimeter ripples and outer body patches.
  7. Tap Purple 16, Cyan 21, Cyan 5, Red 4, and Blue 3. Ants consume the purple dorsal markings and the final blue water surrounding the koi's head and tail.
  8. Tap Grey 4, White 7, Cyan 8, Purple 4, and Red 6, followed by Black 18 and Grey 1. Black, grey, white, and red ants eat the koi's whiskers, face, and inner scales.
  9. Send the final Purple 7, Blue 11, and Cyan 4 jars into the bays. Ants clear the last purple and blue pixels from the tail and background to finish the level.

Moves that cost you the level

  • Tapping the Red 32 or Red 28 jar early → Red pixels form the inner body of the koi fish and are buried under outer green and blue pixels, stalling the jar and clogging a bay.
  • Tapping White 24 before clearing surrounding water → White pixels on the fish belly remain blocked by blue and cyan water pixels, leaving the White jar idle in the bay.

Quick tips for Level 287

  • Strip exterior water and lily pad colours (Cyan, Blue, Green) to expose the koi fish before sending Red, White, or Black jars.
  • Keep track of which Mystery jars uncover high-count colours so you only open them when their matching edges are already exposed.
Board breakdown5 notes
Layout
The board features a pixel-art koi fish swimming among green lily pads in blue water. Below the ant hole sits a rack of five bays above a jar grid containing visible jars in front and Mystery jars behind.
Goal
Clear all pixels of the koi pond image by routing matching ants from jars into the bays.
Opening
Start with Dark Green 10, Cyan 30, and Light Green 50 from the front row to clear the outermost edges of the lily pads and water before touching interior colours.
Trap
Tapping Red or White jars too early stalls them in the bays because the koi fish's inner body is completely surrounded by green lily pads and blue water.
Mechanic
The fifth bay is temporarily locked by strapped tape at the start and becomes usable once initial front-row jars are deployed; Mystery jars reveal their colour and number when jars directly in front are removed.

  • Why is the fifth bay locked on Level 287?

The fifth bay starts strapped shut and automatically opens into play as you clear the initial jars from the front row.
