Colony Flow! Level 40 Walkthrough

hard Live 5 colours / pieces Checked September 20, 2026

Level 40 features a capybara portrait framed by green foliage, starting with four pre-filled slots. The key is pacing your taps to match exposed outer layers, letting green and brown clear before flooding slots with inner colours. Avoid loading duplicate brown or unexposed black boxes to prevent slot gridlock.

How to beat Colony Flow! Level 40 — full solution

  1. Wait for the initial Green box in slot 1 to empty, then tap the Green 38 box (row 1, leftmost). The green ants continue stripping the background foliage alongside the pre-placed Green 40 and Orange 34 boxes, exposing the outer brown fur of the capybara.
  2. Once the starting Green 40 and Orange 34 boxes clear, tap the Brown 25 box (row 1, leftmost), the Brown 25 box (row 1, second from left), and the Orange 37 box (row 1, third from left). Brown ants begin clearing the animal body while the pre-placed Black 40 begins counting down.
  3. When the first Brown 25 and Black 40 boxes finish, tap the Brown 26 box (row 1, leftmost). The brown ants steadily eat away the capybara coat, clearing the second Brown 25 box and leaving Brown 26 running with three slots open.
  4. Tap the Brown 28 box (row 1, second from left), the Green 37 box (row 1, third from left), the Green 25 box (row 1, leftmost), and the revealed Brown 25 mystery box (row 1, second from left). Green and brown ants clear the lower background and outer edges.
  5. Tap the Brown 20 box (row 1, leftmost) and the Green 40 box (row 1, far right). The brown ants continue stripping the torso layers while the green ants work down the side border, opening up slots for the next wave.
  6. Tap the Orange 38 box (row 1, far right), the Green 28 box (row 1, third from left), and the Black 34 box (row 1, second from left). Green ants clear the bottom greenery while black ants start stripping the facial features and leg outlines.
  7. Tap the Brown 19 box (row 1, leftmost), the Green 39 box (row 1, third from left), the Orange 21 box (row 1, far right), and the Black 20 box (row 1, second from left). As these count down, the capybara legs and face clear completely.
  8. Tap the Black 34 box (row 1, far right). Black ants remove the final remaining outline blocks, fully expending all black requirements and leaving only the top bird and upper foliage.
  9. Tap the Green 37 box (row 1, leftmost), the Green 40 box (row 1, second from left), and the Green 40 box (row 1, third from left). Green ants clear away the dense foliage surrounding the bird on the head.
  10. Tap the Green 28 box (row 1, leftmost), the Yellow 4 box (row 1, second from left), the Orange 35 box (row 1, third from left), and the Black 35 box (row 1, far right). All four colours carry away the final pixels of the bird and sprout to finish the level.

Moves that cost you the level

  • Tapping the Black 40 box from the stack while the starting Black 40 is still stalled → two black boxes occupy two slots with zero exposed black blocks, clogging the slots.
  • Tapping multiple brown boxes into open slots during Phase 1 → only one box of a colour can actively carry blocks at a time, causing the extra brown boxes to sit idle and block slots.

Quick tips for Level 40

  • Only one ant box of a given colour actively works at a time; queueing duplicate boxes of the same colour needlessly consumes precious slots.
  • Look at the picture's outermost edges before tapping: inner colours like Black and Yellow cannot be carried until the Green background and Brown body covering them are removed.
Board breakdown5 notes
Layout
A central square pixel canvas depicting a brown capybara with an orange-and-yellow bird on its head against a green background, with two ant nests, five slots below, and a four-column box stack at the bottom.
Goal
Carry away all pixel blocks from the canvas using ant boxes until the picture is completely dismantled.
Opening
Four boxes (Green, Green, Orange, Black) are pre-filled in the slots at the start. Wait for the initial Green box in slot 1 to exhaust before tapping Green 38 from the front row.
Trap
The pre-placed Black 40 box remains stalled in slot 4 until the capybara body is sufficiently hollowed out, leaving you with effectively only four workable slots for the first third of the level.
Mechanic
Pre-filled slots occupy buffer space from the opening second, requiring strict discipline not to tap stack boxes until active slots clear.

Level 40 questions

  • Why is the Black 40 box not counting down at the start of Level 40?

Black blocks make up the capybara's eyes, nose, and leg outlines, which are entirely buried under green and brown blocks at the start. It begins counting down once the outer layers are cleared.

  • How do I avoid running out of slots on Level 40?

Never load more than one box of the same colour at once. Additional boxes of the same colour wait in line without working, wasting slots.
