How to beat Colony Flow! Level 170 — full solution

  1. Tap the Yellow 35 box (row 1, column 1) and the Yellow 40 box (row 1, column 2). Yellow ants begin clearing the exposed outer background blocks along the bottom and sides of the frame, opening room for darker edge blocks.
  2. Tap the Yellow 35 box (row 1, column 3) and the Black 30 box (row 1, column 4). As background tiles clear, black ants strip away the lower perimeter outline of the cactus and the base of the sombrero.
  3. Tap the linked Dark Green 35 and Beige 20 pair exposed in columns 2 and 3. Dark green ants strip the exposed lower arms of the cactus while beige ants wait for inner hat brim accents to be revealed.
  4. Tap the Black 25 box (row 1, column 1) and the Yellow 35 box (row 1, column 4). Black ants harvest outline blocks around the trunk, fully exposing the green body of the cactus and freeing two slots.
  5. Tap the linked Dark Green 38 and Red 8 pair on the left. Dark green ants dismantle the main trunk blocks while red ants stand by until the sombrero band is uncovered.
  6. Tap the Yellow 40 box (row 1, column 3) and the Black 25 box (row 2, column 4). Yellow ants strip the upper background corners while black ants dismantle the sombrero brim borders.
  7. Tap the linked Red 2 and Light Green 10 pair. Light green ants devour the cactus highlights and red ants strip the central hat ribbon.
  8. Tap the linked White 8 and Beige 21 pair followed by the Yellow 40 box. White and beige ants clear the inner hat decorative pattern while yellow ants remove the upper hat crown.
  9. Tap the remaining linked Yellow pair in the front row. Yellow ants carry off the final crown blocks at the top of the sombrero to win the level.

Moves that cost you the level

  • Tapping the linked White 8 and Beige 21 pair early → White and beige blocks are buried inside the sombrero hat, so both boxes sit idle and clog two slots.
  • Tapping the linked Red 2 and Light Green 10 pair before the cactus trunk is cleared → Red blocks are isolated in the upper hat band and will freeze the slot.

Quick tips for Level 170

  • Always exhaust background yellow boxes first so the outer boundaries of the cactus become exposed.
  • Notice which linked pairs contain interior colours like Beige or Red; only deploy them when their target layer has been surfaced.
Board breakdown5 notes
Layout
A pixel canvas depicts a green cactus wearing a wide sombrero on a yellow dotted background. Below the nest hole sits a row of five slots above a grid of stacked ant boxes, several of which are joined in vertical linked pairs.
Goal
Completely dismantle the 170-level pixel illustration by deploying ant boxes in an order that exposes each colour layer from outside to inside.
Opening
Start by tapping the front-row Yellow boxes and the front-row Black box. They clear the outer frame and lower outlines without any risk of stalling in the slots.
Trap
Deploying the White 8 and Beige 21 vertical pair before the sombrero is stripped will lock two slots simultaneously, leaving too little buffer space to cycle through the green and black layers.
Mechanic
Linked boxes must enter the slots together, requiring two adjacent empty slots to be deployed.

Level 170 questions

  • What should I tap first on Level 170?

Tap the front-row Yellow and Black boxes. These clear the exposed background borders and bottom outlines, unlocking deeper rows without filling your slots with unusable colours.
