How to beat Food Hunt: Pixel Puzzle Level 42 — full solution

  1. With Black 4, Dark Green 2, Light Green 5, and Blue 1 already in bays 1 through 4, tap Dark Green 21 (row 1, left). As Black 4, Dark Green 2, Light Green 5, and Blue 1 finish eating the lower boundary, tap revealed Light Green 38, White 4, Dark Green 25, and Blue 30. All five bays are occupied.
  2. Tap White 10 (row 1, left) and Yellow 19 (row 1, right) as bays free up. Dark Green 1, Light Green 38, and White 4 finish, allowing Yellow 19 (counting down to 7), revealed Dark Green 16, and White 10 to fill bays 1 through 3 alongside Dark Green 7 and Blue 18.
  3. Allow the active jars to continue stripping the crest and belly. Dark Green 7 in bay 4 finishes and clears, freeing bay 4 while Yellow 7, Dark Green 6, White 9, and Blue 10 continue eating exposed pixels.
  4. As Dark Green 6 and Blue 10 finish and clear bays 2 and 5, tap Light Green 23 (row 1, left) into bay 4 and Dark Grey 10 (row 1, right) into bay 5. Yellow 7, White 9, Light Green 23, and Dark Grey 10 are now active.
  5. Tap Yellow 20 (row 1, left) and Blue 24 (row 1, right) into freed bays as Yellow 7 clears. Tap revealed Dark Grey 23. Yellow 20 (down to 12), Dark Grey 23, White 6, Dark Grey 10, and Blue 3 occupy all five bays, dismantling the snout and eye.
  6. As White 6 and Blue 3 clear the eye and upper crest, tap Dark Grey 20 (row 1, left) and Dark Green 42 (row 1, right), plus revealed Blue 1. Dark Grey 13 and Dark Green 13 strip the remaining upper crest and jaw.
  7. With Yellow 4, Dark Grey 13, and Blue 1 cleared, tap Dark Green 32 (row 1, centre), revealed Light Green 20, and Blue 10 (row 3, right). Yellow 3, Dark Grey 8, Dark Green 14, Light Green 20, and Blue 1 occupy the bays.
  8. Let the ants from Yellow 3, Dark Grey 8, Dark Green 14, Light Green 20, and Blue 1 finish the remaining scattered pixels of the crest and jaw. All five bays empty as the board clears to win the level.

Moves that cost you the level

  • Tapping Yellow 19 immediately at the start → Yellow pixels are completely surrounded by the green body, so the Yellow jar stalls in a bay and restricts space for active colours.
  • Flooding bays with multiple Dark Grey jars while crest pixels are still covered → Dark Grey outline pixels must be cleared in sync with exposed edges, otherwise unexposed outlines block jar progress.

Quick tips for Level 42

  • Focus on outer contour colours (Black, Dark Green, Light Green) first to uncover the interior Yellow and White features.
  • Keep at least one bay open when revealing mystery jars so newly exposed colours can be dispatched without risking a gridlock.
Board breakdown5 notes
Layout
The picture is a pixel crocodile with a blue and dark green crest, light green body, black outlines, white eye and teeth, and an inner yellow mouth stripe. Beneath the ant hole are five bays, and below them sits a multi-row jar grid containing numbered and mystery jars.
Goal
Clear all pixels from the crocodile picture using matching ants from jars dispatched into the bays.
Opening
With Black 4, Dark Green 2, Light Green 5, and Blue 1 already in the bays eating the outer boundary, tap Dark Green 21 to strip the outer green layers.
Trap
Tapping Yellow jars before the Light Green body pixels covering the yellow inner stripe are cleared causes the Yellow jar to stall in a bay.
Mechanic
Mystery jars marked with '?' reveal their colour and number once the jar directly in front of them is tapped into a bay.

Level 42 questions

  • Why won't my Yellow jar count down in Food Hunt Level 42?

The yellow pixels form a stripe inside the crocodile's mouth and belly. You must strip away the surrounding Light Green and Dark Green body pixels before ants can reach the yellow line.
