How to beat Colony Flow! Level 517 — full solution

  1. Tap the front-row Dark Green 35 box on the left and Green 20 box in the middle. The ants march out to chip away at the exposed shoreline foliage and the lower canopy, opening access along the bottom edge.
  2. Tap the front-row Orange 30 box on the right and the Yellow 30 box in row 2, middle. Their ants strip the exposed top bands of the sunset and outer yellow sky, leaving three slots occupied while the front row clears.
  3. Tap the Beige 15 box into the open slot. The beige ants carry off the sandy shoreline blocks, freeing up perimeter space around the breaking waves as the Yellow box completes its count and departs.
  4. Tap the Light Blue 25 box in row 2, left, and uncover the Grey ? mystery box in the second row, which reveals Light Blue 28. Both light blue squads dismantle the rolling ocean waves along the lower half.
  5. Tap the Light Green 35 box and the Green 32 box from the middle stack. The ants strip away the upper palm fronds and interior island foliage now that the sea spray surrounding them has receded.
  6. Tap the White 35 box and the Brown 31 box. The ants dismantle the palm tree trunk and the remaining white wave crests, fully uncovering the central sky and exposing the black birds.
  7. Tap the Black 50 box from the stack into an available slot. With the surrounding yellow sky blocks cleared away, the black ants can now fly directly to the birds and remove every dark detail.
  8. Tap the White 34, Yellow 30, and Orange 16 boxes in the back row. The ants collect the remaining sun core, sky gradient, and border blocks until the entire canvas is clear.

Moves that cost you the level

  • Tapping the Black 50 box before clearing the sky → the black birds are surrounded by yellow blocks, leaving the box stuck in a slot.
  • Filling all five slots with Green and Dark Green boxes at once → shoreline blocks run out before the canopy is reachable, causing an immediate stall.

Quick tips for Level 517

  • Work from the outer frame inward; exposed blocks are only accessible along the outer edges of the remaining illustration.
  • Keep at least one slot open whenever revealing a mystery box so you can adjust your strategy based on its revealed colour.
Board breakdown5 notes
Layout
A circular pixel-art canvas depicts a sunset over ocean waves and a palm tree, positioned above two ant nests and five holding slots. Below the slots sits a multi-layered stack of ant boxes arranged in rows of three.
Goal
Clear all coloured blocks from the sunset beach picture using ant boxes from the stack without filling all five slots with stuck boxes.
Opening
Tap Dark Green 35 and Green 20 from the front row to begin stripping the exposed shoreline, followed by Orange 30 at the top edge.
Trap
Tapping the Black 50 box early will trap it in a slot indefinitely because the black birds are embedded deep inside the yellow sunset sky and cannot be reached.
Mechanic
Mystery boxes marked with a question mark conceal their colour and count until they reach the front row and are uncovered by clearing the boxes ahead of them.

Level 517 questions

  • When should I tap the Black box in Level 517?

Wait until the yellow and orange sky blocks surrounding the birds have been removed. Black ants cannot reach the birds while other colours enclose them.

  • How do I avoid getting stuck with full slots on Level 517?

Alternate between clearing the top sunset and the bottom waves so ants continuously find exposed edges without idling in the slots.
