Colony Flow! level guide
Colony Flow! Level 501 Walkthrough
Level 501 features a pixel-art depiction of The Great Wave with five colours and a pre-placed Black 33 box blocking the center slot. The winning strategy is using White and Light Blue boxes first to strip the outer crest and expose the buried black blocks. Tapping deep-layer colors early clogs all slots and causes an unavoidable stall.
How to beat Colony Flow! Level 501 — full solution
- Tap the White 35 box (front row, left) and the Light Blue 20 box (front row, middle). Their ants strip the exposed wave crest foam on the left and center, opening slots 1 and 2 while Black 33 waits in slot 3.
- Tap the Dark Purple 32 box (front row, right) and the Blue 32 box (revealed front row, right). These fill slots 4 and 5, harvesting the upper sky and outer wave body, which exposes the central Black blocks beneath the wave.
- As the initial White and Light Blue boxes clear the outer crest, tap the White 35 box (front row, left) into the freed slot 1. Its ants continue clearing wave spray along the upper curve, keeping harvesting continuous.
- Tap the Light Blue 26 box (front row, right) into slot 2 as Dark Purple 32 finishes in slot 5. Light Blue ants strip the lower water lines, exposing the remaining dark blocks beneath the crest.
- Allow Black 33 in slot 3 to finish clearing the hollow shadow under the wave, freeing the center slot. Tap the Dark Purple 35 box (front row, left) into slot 3 to dismantle the upper-right sky.
- Once Blue 32 empties from slot 4, tap the Light Blue 20 box (front row, left) and White 35 box (front row, middle) into slots 2 and 5 in any order. They remove the remaining crest outlines.
- As Light Blue 26 and White 35 finish, tap the Blue 30 box (front row, right) into slot 1. Its ants break into the dense central blue core of the wave body.
- With the remaining Dark Purple and White boxes cleared, tap the final Blue 30 box (front row, middle) into slot 1. Its ants carry off the last blue water blocks to complete the Great Wave mosaic.
On this board:
Moves that cost you the level
- Tapping Dark Purple boxes before stripping wave crests → Dark Purple only clears the top sky and cannot expose the trapped Black 33 blocks, leaving you with too few free slots.
- Ignoring the White foam outlines early → White blocks shield the inner blue water and black core, preventing subsequent boxes from collecting blocks and stalling the board.
Quick tips for Level 501
- Prioritize colors on the outer perimeter to steadily expand the harvesting surface for trapped inner blocks.
- Keep track of pre-placed stuck boxes; plan your slot usage carefully so the remaining four slots never completely jam.
Board breakdown5 notes
- Layout
- A canvas depicts The Great Wave off Kanagawa using Dark Purple for the sky, White for crest foam, Light Blue and Blue for the wave body, and Black for the hollow beneath the crest. Two ant nests sit above five slots, with a 3-wide stack below.
- Goal
- Clear all coloured blocks from the wave mosaic. Black 33 begins pre-slotted in the center slot, leaving four active slots for stack boxes.
- Opening
- Tap White 35 (front row, left) and Light Blue 20 (front row, middle) first. These immediately target the exposed outer foam, uncovering deeper wave sections and opening access to the buried Black area.
- Trap
- Black 33 is pre-locked in the middle slot and cannot harvest until surrounding wave layers peel away. Filling the remaining four slots with colors that cannot clear the outer crest risks a total stall.
- Mechanic
- Pre-filled slots reduce available workspace from the start. Buried colors cannot be gathered until outer pixels are stripped away, so inner-layer boxes in slots remain idle until cleared.
Level 501 questions
-
What should I tap first in Colony Flow! Level 501?
Tap White 35 on the front left and Light Blue 20 in the front middle. They immediately attack the exposed outer foam, peeling away layers to reach the buried black blocks.
-
Why does Black 33 not collect any blocks at the start?
Black 33 begins in slot 3 but its blocks are completely buried inside the wave. You must peel away White, Light Blue, and Blue blocks first before black ants can reach them.
