How to beat Colony Flow! Level 229 — full solution

  1. With Orange 16, Orange 19, and Light Blue 9 already active in the slots, tap the Black 14 box (front row, left). Its ants strip the exposed bottom outline of the lily pad while the orange sky and blue pond clear, leaving four slots in use.
  2. Tap the Orange 20 box (front row, middle) and Orange 20 box (front row, right) as slots open. These send ants to carve deep into the upper background, freeing the front row to reveal Green 15 and Orange 18.
  3. Tap the Green 15 box (front row, middle) and Light Green 2 box (revealed at the front) into available slots. Their ants begin dismantling the exposed edges of the lily pad and lower frog base, leaving all five slots filled.
  4. Once slots empty, tap the linked Orange 20 and Black 18 pair connected by the diagonal bar. These deploy together to strip the upper sky corners and the outer black silhouette of the frog, requiring two free slots.
  5. Tap the Brown 14 box and Light Green 15 box from the front row. Their ants target the frog's chest and the lower branches of the crown as the black barrier recedes, opening up three slots.
  6. Tap the Orange 10 box and Orange 12 box to finish removing the upper background blocks, then tap the Brown 3 box (front row, left) to chip away at the crown's wooden structure.
  7. Tap the linked Black 18 and Black 2 pair, followed by the Black 20 box. Their ants strip the dark eye outlines and upper antler borders, exposing the inner green head and crown core.
  8. Tap the Light Green 20, Green 18, Light Blue 20, and Red 13 boxes in any order. Their ants dismantle the frog head, crown gems, and base blocks, clearing the board completely.

Moves that cost you the level

  • Tapping Green 15 or Brown 14 while the outer border is still intact → green and brown blocks are completely buried beneath the black outline, leaving those boxes stuck in slots.
  • Releasing the linked Orange 20 and Black 18 pair with only one free slot → linked pairs require two open slots simultaneously, blocking further moves if space is lacking.

Quick tips for Level 229

  • Prioritize clearing outer outline boxes like Black 14 and Black 18 to expose inner color layers before committing frog-body boxes.
  • Keep at least two slots open whenever a linked pair approaches the front row of the stack.
Board breakdown5 notes
Layout
The picture depicts a pixel-art frog wearing an antler crown sitting on a lily pad. Below the nest hole sits a row of five bays, with a three-column stack of ant boxes underneath.
Goal
Clear all pixel blocks from the picture by tapping matching ant boxes into the five bays until their counts reach zero.
Opening
With Orange 16, Orange 19, and Light Blue 9 already in the bays, tap Black 14 on the front-left to begin shaving the outer perimeter.
Trap
Tapping internal frog colors like Green or Brown too early stalls bays because the thick Black outlines and outer Orange background shield them from exposure.
Mechanic
Linked boxes joined by a connecting bar must enter two open bays simultaneously when tapped.

Level 229 questions

  • What should I tap first on Colony Flow! Level 229?

Focus on peeling away the outer Orange sky and Light Blue pond while Black 14 clears the lower border. This exposes the frog's Green body and lily pad.

  • Why did my Green box stop working on Level 229?

The frog's green blocks are blocked by outer Black outlines and Orange sky blocks. Clear the surrounding outline first to uncover green targets.
